Black Sheep Bacon Jam is a Forestburg-area business created by Amy, whose lifelong passion for food led her to complete a professional Culinary Arts diploma from SAIT in 2004. She went on to build her experience in Calgary hotels, restaurants and catering before moving into kitchen management, including two and a half years managing kitchens in the oilfield. Amy now lives on an acreage outside of Forestburg, where she spends her time cooking for family and friends, gardening, and enjoying the quiet but busy pace of acreage life. The idea for Black Sheep Bacon Jam began with a simple goal: to create the perfect burger condiment. It quickly became a summertime family favourite, and soon they were trying it on just about everything. Made with hand-raised, hormone-free bacon from Irvings Farm Fresh Ltd in Round Hill, Black Sheep Bacon Jam is a rich, savoury spread that proves bacon really can go with almost anything. It is delicious on burgers, fried-egg sandwiches, grilled cheese, baked brie, charcuterie boards, smokies, hotdogs, baked potatoes, vegetables, perogies and more. Available in three flavours, Original features bacon, maple syrup, brown sugar, coffee, apple cider vinegar and spices. Jalapeño adds jalapeños and chili flakes for a little kick, while Whiskey-O features caramelized onions and Pipeliner Rye Whiskey from Rig Hand Distillery. Black Sheep Bacon Jam was named Best Condiment at the 2026 Made in Alberta Food Awards, a well-deserved recognition for this creative, locally made product from the Flagstaff Region.
