Black Barrel Brine makes homemade pickling simple with a ready-to-use, delicious brine.

Black Barrel Brine was born from a love of tradition and family recipes. Husband-and-wife team Brady and Hailey, both appreciate the special role that food and family traditions play in bringing generations together. Having learned pickling recipes from their grandmothers, they understand that pickling is about more than preserving vegetables. It is about sharing knowledge, passing down traditions, spending time together, and creating something meaningful that can be enjoyed and shared with others. After dabbling in home pickling themselves, the couple recognized that while the process can be rewarding, it can also feel intimidating and overwhelming for those without a trusted family recipe or experience to guide them. It was their curiousity and entrepreneurial spirit that sparked the idea for Black Barrel Brine. Brady wondered why ready-to-use pickling brine wasn't already available to simplify the process, and the idea for the business began to take shape. Black Barrel Brine was created to make home pickling easier, less intimidating, and more accessible for everyone. Offering convenient 4L jugs of ready-to-use brine, the business takes some of the stress out of getting started. Customers get to focus on what makes pickling fun: time spent with family or friends, creating and experimenting, and making something with their own hands. From traditional cucumbers to carrots, beans, asparagus- the possibilities are endless. Whether someone is trying pickling for the first time or looking for a simpler way to enjoy a well-loved hobby, Black Barrel Brine makes it easier to bring homemade goodness to the table. As proud members of the Flagstaff region, Brady and Hailey are excited to grow their business alongside the community they call home. They hope to partner with more local shops, attend community markets, and participate in local events that bring people together. They also envision offering educational workshops where newcomers can learn the basics of pickling in a welcoming, hands-on environment, while learning from experienced local picklers who have their own knowledge, techniques, and traditions to share. Black Barrel Brine is about celebrating the best of both worlds: honouring the old-fashioned, family-rooted traditions while making them practical, accessible, and simpler for today's busy households. Through Black Barrel Brine, Brady and Hailey hope to help keep the tradition of home pickling alive, encourage creativity in the kitchen, and create opportunities for people in the Flagstaff region to share skills, stories, and a love of homemade food. At Black Barrel Brine, it's about more than pickling- it's about bringing people together and creating new traditions, one jar at a time.
