Derek opened up the Heisler Archery Club over 3 years ago and continues to expand it with different archery targets and events. In August of 2022, Derek along with Mat Ponto bought Grizz Targets from Jim Wilson of Sundre, AB. After operating his target business for over 10 years, Jim was looking to slow down and pass the reigns off to some younger, motivated guys. Derek White's passion for archery led him to the opportunity of taking over Jim Wilson Grizz Targets business and he decided to partner with his good friend Mat Ponto. His business partner Mat who grew up in the Galahad & Forestburg area has a strong passion for hunting and outdoors which led him to the sport of archery. When Derek approached Mat with the idea of buying Grizz Targets, Mat was excited to partner with him and share his love of hunting and the outdoors. Derek converted an old dairy barn with over 3500 sq feet of space into what is now known as "The Cave" to manufacture targets. With Derek's excitement for building targets and growing the business as well as Mat's background in sales and distribution, they are excited about the future of Grizz Targets in Flagstaff County!
