Flagstaff Scottish Club is a vibrant and welcoming group that brings together individuals from across East Central Alberta to celebrate and share Scottish culture. Based out of their clubhouse in Sedgewick, the club is the proud founder of the Battle River Pipes and Drums (BRPD) and offers teaching seminars for the Great Highland Bagpipes as well as three styles of traditional Scottish drumming. They also host monthly social nights that foster connection and cultural appreciation.
Each year, the club organizes several signature events that have become beloved local traditions, including the Robbie Burns Dinner & Dance in late January and Tartans & Tunes — a free evening of music and celebration held in early April to mark Tartan Day.
Their largest annual event, the Gathering of the Clans Highland Festival (GOTCHF), takes place on the second-last Saturday of August. This one-day cultural celebration features Celtic music, artisan vendors, traditional dancing, heavy events, food trucks, and live demonstrations — offering an immersive experience that showcases the richness of Scottish heritage.
