Matt McDonald is a licensed mobile butcher, former Red Seal chef, backyard mechanic, and passionate supporter of the rural lifestyle. With experience ranging from fine dining and bakeries to butcher shops, slaughterhouses, construction, and more, Matt has built a diverse background rooted in hard work and a commitment to quality. Driven by his Christian faith and passion for wholesome food, Matt believes in providing high quality products that nourish both body and soul while serving others with humility and care. Founded in January 2024, BGT Meat Packers was built on a mission to serve farmers and homesteaders with dependable, friendly service. In late 2025, Matt relocated the business to the Bellshill/Lougheed area of Flagstaff County, where he continues to grow the operation and put down roots in the local community. Today, BGT Meat Packers partners with several plants and butcher shops locally and beyond, transporting farm-slaughtered carcasses for further processing. The business has also expanded into a small retail operation out of the Lougheed Community Hall, offering premium meat products sourced from farmers in Flagstaff County and the surrounding area. Looking to the future, Matt’s goal is to establish a full-service butcher shop within Flagstaff County, providing custom cutting services while continuing to support local producers and deliver exceptional products to the community.
