The Barn Boutique is a small home studio located near Daysland in rural Flagstaff County. The owner, Jenni Beddoes completed her diploma in Landscape Architecture Technology after high school. The LAT course included design and rendering classes,(fancy word for colouring). This gave Jenni the backbone of colour theory, using different design programs, and creating projects using technology combined with multiple art mediums. Jenni has continued to develop these skills over the years by offering a variety of unique artistry services. Jenni started drawing and painting greeting cards to stay busy during her maternity leave, that grew into her first small business. Jenni and her family relocated from Hay Lakes to Flagstaff County on her grandparent's acreage in 2023. Realizing that there was something very isolating about being a new mom, in a new rural community she wanted to find a way to make herself and other women feel good without having to schedule an entire day for self care. She completed her gel nail certificate that same year. Jenni combined her love of painting with her certificate and began creating hand painted press on nails. By providing rural women with education around press on nails, and the access to nail care items, she could help them bring that self care and confidence home. The Barn Boutique has grown from this earlier business and now has multi-faceted services where she primarily attends markets and events around central Alberta. She has completed projects that range from painting heirloom sauerkraut rocks, computer designed logos, agendas, office stationary, and obituaries; painting greeting cards and canvases for children's rooms, and hand painted press on nails. Jenni's goal is to showcase the beauty, life, and style of Alberta that cannot be bought in a big box store. The press on nails can also be found closer to home at The Rusty Daisy, main street Daysland. Jenni has loved seeing makers and producers in the Flagstaff area support each other, and look forward to attending the Killam monthly market at the Legion.
