Meet Karyn, the creator behind Repurposed Plastic. Back in 2019, while teaching her two young boys about 3D printing, she decided to try to figure out a way to utilize plastic waste to create new products instead of creating more waste. Fed by her passion for the environment and a strong desire to leave behind a better place for her kids, she began a two year long journey of research and building unique plastic processing machines. Perseverance, determination and collaboration led her to where she is today, up-cycling locally collected plastic bottle caps into beautiful, reusable items such as earrings. Not only did her own desires fuel her mission, but the willingness and efforts of the Flagstaff Community to donate their caps inspired her to continue with her pursuits. It is Karyn’s hope that the products she creates not only contribute to a better world through recycling but also bring lasting joy and spread awareness through the story they create.
